About the event
Farewell Gathering for Bob and Phoebe-Ann Needham – Friday 11th July, 5pm
After decades of dedication and camaraderie, our dear friends Bob and Phoebe-Ann Needham will soon be relocating to Brisbane. As many of you know, the Needhams have been part of the Hastings District Flying Club since the 1980s, contributing immensely over the years.
Phoebe-Ann was an active pilot at HDFC for many years, having won dozens of flying competition trophies at various inter-club flying challenges.
Bob, a passionate aviator and cherished flying instructor and CFI, is fondly remembered for introducing the monthly Mug Flying Competition, now known as Pilot Proficiency Day. His influence has shaped many pilots, including Roy Cousins, who began learning to fly with Bob at the remarkable age of 90, and Ray Lind, who as CFI carried forward Bob’s high standards in flight instruction and school operations.
